This 2-year program is comprised of a core curriculum, a 1-year part-time research experience in a BSL-2 or BSL-2+ lab and a 1-year part-time internship in the UCLA Office of Environment, Health & Safety. Completion of the training program is contingent upon the completion of all required coursework, research and EH&S internship assignments.

MIMG 101 – Introductory Microbiology (4 units)
MIMG 102 – Introductory Virology (4 units)
MIMG 103AL* – Research Immersion Laboratory in Virology (5 units)
MIMG 106 – Molecular and Genetic Basis of Bacterial Infections (4 units)
MIMG 109AL* – Research Immersion Laboratory in Microbiology (5 units)
MIMG 168 – Molecular Parasitology (4 units)
MIMG 185A – Immunology (5 units)
ENV HTH (course # TBD) - Practical Aspects of Biosafety and Biosecurity (2 units; begins Spring 2014)
 

*Students have the option of completing either MIMG 103AL or MIMG 109AL

Research

The program will arrange a 1-year research assignment in a BSL2 or BSL2+ laboratory on campus.

Internship

The program will arrange a 1-year internship in the UCLA Office of Environment, Health & Safety.
